Alberto “Albie” Solana
Fisheries Liaison
Prior to joining TotalEnergies, Albie earned a B.S. in Natural Resource Management with a focus on Fisheries Science from Cook College of Rutgers University while working as a deck hand in the charter fishing industry. Following college, he worked on research vessels conducting fisheries impact studies for various power plants in the Hudson River and New York Bight while acquiring his USCG 100 Ton Masters License. This allowed him to pursue freelance Captains work on charter and commercial fishing vessels, as well as private yachts along the entire east coast, Gulf of Mexico, and central Pacific.
In 2010 Albie relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina where he was able to make his passion for spearfishing a career. With the purchase of the F/V Orion and a South Atlantic Snapper/Grouper permit he created his business EEZ Fishing LLC. This allowed him to venture offshore on multi-day dive trips harvesting snapper and grouper while spearfishing. In 2019 Albie added an oyster farm to his fishing portfolio which he still operates out of the New River in Sneads Ferry, NC.
As the Fisheries Liaison for TotalEnergies Long Bay offshore wind project Albie will use his local knowledge and experience of the area and the surrounding communities to provide stakeholder outreach data collection.
After hours, you will still find Albie on the water! He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and yellow lab. Kayaking, fishing, farming and hiking are just a few of his favorite off duty activities.
